Verizon Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus finally get Night mode update

Galaxy S9 Night Mode update download

Verizon has started rolling out an update for the Galaxy S9 family, finally bringing the highly-anticipated dedicated Night mode to the two devices. See the screenshot below to get an idea of how it looks in the camera app.

The company rolled out the July security patch on the first day of August with build number CSGB (G965USQS6CSGB for S9+ and G960USQS6CSGB for S9) but failed to incorporate the Night mode.

Now, through this new update dubbed CSGF, which carries software version G965USQU6CSGF and G960USQU6CSGF respectively for S9 and S9 Plus, Verizon has finally caught up to the global variant. The security patch still remains on July 1st, 2019, but we’re not complaining.

Thanks to the timely release, Verizon has also become the first and only carrier in the US to bring the Night mode update to the S9 family. According to a user, the update also introduces new wireless charging animation.

As this is an incremental OTA update, it could take a while for your Verizon Galaxy S9 to get the update. To update manually, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The Galaxy S9 devices, which launched in 2018, are in line to receive the Android Q update from Samsung. Once the South Korean tech company is done rolling out the Q update to the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 families, the company is tipped to turn its attention to the Galaxy S9 lineup.
