Samsung’s been busy of late rolling out Oreo update for its budget range of Android devices. Earlier today, we saw them update the Verizon Galaxy J7 to Android 8.0, which adds to a handful of Oreo updates they have already rolled out in the last week or so.
They have been keeping up with the security updates too as they have already rolled out September patch for their current flagship devices in Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 9, and Galaxy Note 8. Today, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge join this list, too.
The updates carrying the latest security patch for the S7 handsets are live in Europe already for the model no. SM-G930F and SM-G935F. We were able to spot the September OTA for Europe, identified by version ERHD, for both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge — the full version being G930FXXS3ERHD and G935FXXS3ERHD respectively. The ERHD build seems to be targeting Europe only, as there was another build ERI1 for the UK that also carries the September patch.

Samsung Android Pie update
Samsung is expected to start its Android 9 beta program in the near future, beginning with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ handsets. Samsung’s not among the quickest to roll out flagship Android OS updates, which is why we expect them to release their first Pie beta update only in November. FYI, a beta version of Android Pie is already available for the OnePlus 6 and several Huawei devices. Sure, you can install Android Pie on Galaxy S9 thanks to the magic of custom ROMs, but that doesn’t count here as we are talking only official updates here.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are not eligible for the Android 9 (see full device list here) but the update should be rolling out for the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and Galaxy Note 8 once the stable version is available for the S9.
