So, it is no surprise that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S4 for a release next year, in keeping with their yearly release cycle, with the device rumored to sport a 5-inch 1080p display as well as a 13-megapixel camera. Now, the latest rumor suggests that the Galaxy S4 will be powered by the Exynos 5450 processor running at a clock speed of 2.0GHz!

The Exynos 5450 is supposed to be built on a 28nm HKMG (high-k metal gate) process and the ARM Cortex-A15 architecture, and coupled with a 2.0Ghz clock speed, the chipset will no doubt blow competing chipsets out of the water in performance (as well as power efficiency thanks to the 28nm process), making for yet another beast of a smartphone in Samsung’s Galaxy S series. The Exynos 5250, used in Google‘s latest Chromebook and the upcoming Nexus 10 tablet, is already quite a powerful chipset according to benchmarks, so one can only wonder how much better the Exynos 5450 will be. Samsung is also apparently deciding on what materials to use in building the Galaxy S4, probably due to increasing complaints of too much plastic in all their flagship devices.

Of course, this is still a rumor with no proof to back it up, so take this with multiple pinches of salt. The war of the fastest processor is in full motion though, so I wouldn’t put it past Samsung to make sure that the Galaxy S4 comes with their latest, greatest, and fastest mobile chipset.

And not to remain far behind in display tech, Samsung Galaxy S4 is already rumored to feature a 5-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display, which is kind-of obvious since HTC has already got one such phone on the market already, as HTC Butterfly, and will soon get another, the HTC DLX. Though, while TC Butterfly has been announced officially, HTC DLX, also known as HTC Deluxe, is yet to receive an official word of its existence, even though it’s clearly headed to Verizon. And we’ve heard about the 1080p phones in the making at Samsung before too, so it makes sense and easily looks very much probable.

Between the new processor and display Samsung Galaxy S4 looks set to arrive with, we think processor is more of a killer. We expect a May-June release date for Samsung Galaxy S4, and we’re sure that by that time, 1080p display equipped flagship phones won’t be any rare, but a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor powered phone might be!

What do you guys think?
