Samsung is seeding a new security update for the Galaxy J Max phablet. The update installs the latest February Android security patch.
The J Max is a cross between a smartphone and a tablet. It features a 7-inch display with a 800 x 1280 resolution and was released in August last year. The device still runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and will probably never be updated beyond that.

The latest update is also Lollipop based and carries the build number T285YDDDU0AQA2. It is available as an OTA right now. Before you install the update, make sure your device is sufficiently charged and is connected to a WiFi network.
Apart from the 7-inch display, the J Max has a Spreadtrum SC8830 processor that’s coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It has an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 8GB of internal storage. There’s a 4000mAh battery to keep the device running. So yeah, a budget Android tablet that can perform basic tasks.
