Samsung Galaxy Grand On Specs: Android 5.1.1 comes pre-installed as firmware leaks

Samsung’s trying its hand on rather new series of Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Grand On, that will come with model no. SM-550FY in European markets.

A firmware just leaked of the device, and because it’s based on Android 5.1.1, we think it’s safe to assume Samsung will be shipping the Grand On sets with 5.1.1 on-board.

Other specs aren’t out yet, but we may be looking for a cheaper Galaxy A8 like device with 1GB RAM and quad-core processor and such. Expect a mediocre camera and battery size, and you have it.

Anyway, we will be sure to bring your more updates about specification as and when they arrive.

It was rumored to be Galaxy O5 earlier, but then it emerged that Samsung decided to rely on the Grand and Mega fame, rather then trying to invent the new O series altogether.

The SM-G550 is Galaxy Grand On, while SM-G600 is Galaxy Mega On, and both should be released by Samsung this month or next, running Android 5.1.1 our of the box.

Which means their first Android version upgrade will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow, a BIG leap for such mid-range devices, and something that may not happen for next 4-6 months even.
