Over the last year, Samsung has kicked up its efforts to dominate the mid-range segment in the United States. At $249.99, the Galaxy A20 isn’t exactly dirt cheap, but the premium isn’t much if you consider the brand value of the device you’re buying.

Samsung, as we know, is usually pretty reliable when it comes to updating its devices. So, in an attempt to lend a helping hand, we have created an update page to help you keep track of all the latest releases for your A20. Regular security updates, maintenance releases, feature rollouts, One UI 2.0 (Android 10) reports, and everything in between — bookmark this page to stay ahead of the curve.

Android 10

  • June 30: Verizon A20 gets Android 10
  • April 26: Samsung has released Android 10 for Galaxy A20
  • Before the Verizon variant, the Global model will get Android 10
  • A20 won’t get Android 10 beta program

July 04, 2020: US carrier, Verizon started rolling out Android 10 for its Samsung Galaxy A20 handset, beginning June 30. The update is already available as an OTA, but in case your device hasn’t receive the same yet, just give it some more time. The software version of the Verizon A10 Android 10 update is A102USQS6ATC2, the build number being ATC2.

April 27, 2020: The Android 10 update is now available for the Galaxy A20. As of today, the update is available only in Vietnam but we do expect it to be released in various other markets really soon. Coming in as build BTD3, the full software version of the A20 Android 10 update is A205FXXU7BTD3 and it also brings One UI 2 only, not 2.1, which is the company’s latest version of the UI and is available for the S10 and Note 10 handsets apart from the S20 series.

Launched in March 2019, the Galaxy A20 ran Android’s latest at the time, Android 9 Pie. The sub-$250 device sits way down the pecking order, but the South Korean OEM is expected to grant the A20 one major Android OS upgrade. The much-anticipated upgrade to Android 10 is certainly on the table, but we don’t have a release date for the same.

Verizon Wireless is one of the most reputed telecom companies in the US and is usually quite dependable when it comes to software updates. However, despite the company’s glowing track record, it won’t be able to roll out Android 10 before the Global variant. So, if we optimistically assume the Android 10 rollout for the Global variant in March 2020, Verizon A20 could get it between April and May 2020.

Also, as is the case with lower-end devices, A20 won’t also get a beta before the stable release, so, don’t get your hopes up for Android 10 beta.

One UI 2.0

In 2019, the South Korean company restored some sense of peace of mind, swapping out the cumbersome TouchWiz in favor of a refined user interface — One UI. Its first iteration, One UI 1.0, based on Android 9 Pie, was released in January 2019 for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Later, Samsung brought two small incremental upgrades in the form of One UI 1.1 and One UI 1.5 for the S10 and Note 10 families, respectively.

The company is currently working on One UI 2.0, which will be based on Google’s latest, Android 10. As confirmed by various leaks, there won’t be many visual changes, but we can expect some subtle yet dramatic performance upgrades.
