  GUIDE: ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE ADVANCE

Before you begin with the instructions below, make sure your android device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.

  STEP 0: CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be GT-S6800!

Please know that this page is meant for Samsung Galaxy Ace Advance only. Do not use the procedures discussed here on other device of Samsung or any other company. You have been warned!

  STEP 1: BACKUP YOUR DEVICE

  STEP 2: INSTALL LATEST DRIVER

You must have proper and working driver installed on your windows computer to be able to successfully root your Samsung Galaxy Ace Advance.

   STEP 3: INSTALL THE LATEST CWM/TWRP RECOVERY

 Skip this step if you already have latest version of CWM or TWRP recovery installed on your device.

Make sure that you’ve latest version of the recovery installed on your device.

It is necessary to have a custom recovery to flash certain roms and flashable files.

   STEP 4: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Download the Flashable file given below and transfer it to a separate folder on your computer (just to keep things tidy, that is).

Be sure to transfer the Root file you downloaded above to your phone and remember the location of the files.

  STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

In this guide, we offer you two choices to root your phone. One is to flash a Rooted zip file through a Custom Recovery and the other is to Root your device using Motochopper Root tool.

METHOD 1 : ROOT USING A FLASHABLE ROOT FILE

You will need to flash the root file (Method 1) now on your device using either of ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP recovery.

We’ve got separate guide for CWM and TWRP recovery, so use the guide relevant to the recovery you have installed on your device.

  GUIDE FOR CWM RECOVERY USERS

  Example video: If you haven’t used CWM recovery before to install a .zip file of a ROM or anything else, then we suggest you first watch a video of that to get familiar with the process. Click here to watch the video

  1. Boot into recovery mode. For this:
    • Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
    • Press and hold  Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together and release them as soon as you see the Galaxy Ace Advance logo on your phone’s screen.
    • Your phone will boot into recovery mode.
      └ In Recovery Mode, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option in recovery.
  2. Create a Nandroid Backup from recovery. It’s optional but very important to do, so that in case something goes wrong you can restore to current status easily. For making a Nandroid Backup, go to Backup And Restore » Backup.
  3. Install the Zip file:
    • Select Install zip » Choose zip from sdcard (or external sdcard, you know where your files are) » browse to the location where you saved the file and select the acegingerroot.zip file. How to Flash File in CWM Recovery
  4. Reboot your device. For this, go back to the main menu of recovery and select reboot system now.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot. On rebooting your phone will have proper root access.

GUIDE FOR TWRP RECOVERY USERS
  1. Boot into recovery mode. For this:
    • Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
    • Press and hold  Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together and release them as soon as you see the Galaxy Ace Advance logo on your phone’s screen.
    • Your phone will boot into recovery mode.
      └ In Recovery Mode, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option in recovery.
  2. Create a Nandroid Backup from recovery. It’s optional but very important to do, so that in case something goes wrong you can restore to current status easily. For making a Nandroid Backup, go to Backup » and select all check boxes and swipe on the Swipe to confirm option at the bottom of the screen to confirm backup.
  3. Install the Zip file:
    • Tap on Install » browse to the location where you saved the files and tap on the acegingerroot.zip file. Now at the bottom of the screen, do a swipe on the Swipe to confirm flash option to begin flashing.

  4. Reboot your device. Go back to the main menu of recovery and tap on Reboot » then, tap on System to reboot your phone.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot. On rebooting your phone will have proper root access.

METHOD 2: ROOT USING MOTOCHOPPER ROOT TOOL
  1. Extract/Unzip the Motochopper Root file, motochopper.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably) to get the following files:
    • adb.exe
    • adb.linux
    • adb.osx
    • AdbWinApi.dll
    • AdbWinUsbApi.dll
    • busybox
    • pwn
    • run.bat
    • run.sh
    • su
    • Superuser.apk
  2. Turn on USB Debugging  on your Samsung Galaxy Ace Advance
    • Enable developer options: Go to your device’ Settings » select About device » Scroll to the bottom and tap on “Build number” seven times to enable developer options.
    • Enable USB Debugging: Open device’ Settings » select Developer options » Tick the “USB debugging” checkbox. (under Debugging section)
  3. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Ace Advance to computer with a USB cable and if a pop-up screen shows up on Phone asking you to Allow USB debugging for the computer, make sure to tick the checkbox and tap OK.

  4. Connect your Galaxy Ace Advance to PC. Your PC should detect your device.If your PC doesn’t detect your device, here are some troubleshooting tips:
    • Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy Ace Advance as said above in ‘Before you begin..’ section.
    • If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and reinstall back.
    • Connect using a different USB port on your PC.
    • Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.
    • Reboot your phone and PC and then try again.
  5. With phone duly connected, now double click on the run.bat file in the extracted folder. It will open up a command prompt which should be similar to the screenshot below: Motochopper-Root-cmd
  6. Now press any key to root your phone. Let the magic happen! The Motochopper will do its job, that is, exploit will run and will install the root package automatically.
  7. At the end it will show a message “Exploit complete. Press enter to reboot and exit” indicating the process was success. Now hit enter, the phone will reboot automatically. Motochopper-Root-Success
  8. After the reboot, you will find the SuperUser app in the app drawer. Congrats your device is rooted!
