A new stable ROM for the global version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is currently available. The new build brings MIUI 10 V10.0.6.0 on board of the device.

The new firmware adds a few improvements including fixing the problem with the carrier name displaying even with no SIM card installed, as well as the issue with battery status of Bluetooth headsets not showing after media sound was turned off and turned back on.

Moreover, after the update owners of the Redmi Note 5 won’t have to deal with the screen going black when WhatsApp is opened for the first time. Last but not least, the new build comes bundling the Android Security Patch for November 1, 2018 (not the December one).

While Xiaomi is continuing to update the Redmi Note 5, the phone is quite unlikely to get the Android 9 Pie update. Only the more advanced Redmi Note 5 Pro variant will get this treatment. We expect this to happen in Q2 2019.
