Last week, Xiaomi sent out an invitation for Redmi 6 Pro users to join the global MIUI 10 beta program and while the actual testing was initially scheduled to begin early next month, it seems there has been a change of heart.
As from Thursday this week, the Redmi 6 Pro will begin receiving an update that installs MIUI 10 beta 8.9.20 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. This, in essence, will be the same MIUI 10 beta update that other devices already trialing the ROM will receive later this week, but of course, it will be the first for the global Redmi 6 Pro.

If you’ve been following our coverage on Redmi 6 Pro, you already know that the China ROM has already made a switch to the stable MIUI 10, primarily because the device has been in the country since June 2018. As for the global ROM, we also expect Xiaomi to provide firmware files for those who’d wish to make the switch to MIUI 10 8.9.20 manually later this week.
