Xiaomi is looking all set to release new 2016 variants of its Redmi series in Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A in coming few weeks, so it was natural we got a full glimpse of specifications of these two upcoming sets now.

And that’s what we have here exactly. Let’s talk about them now, where the Redmi 4 is a more premium offering compared to Redmi 4A, which takes plastic body against the metal frame wrapping the former takes. BTW, another upcoming device you maybe interested to find about would be Moto M, whose specs and release date are out too.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Specs

The Redmi 4 specifications are pretty impressive given its price — see below — and you can hardly complain over anything on the offering here. You get a metal (and plastic) body device, with choices of three colors: Gray, Silver and Gold. More funkier and currently-trending colors like pink and light blue are missing, but we won’t hold any grudge for that.

For the nerds, there is an efficient Snapdragon 625 processor chip at the heart, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The external microSD card offers additional storage of upto 128GB.

The Redmi 4 display affair is a 5″ TFT panel with a resolution of Full HD, which means you get the PPI of around 441, which is nice. There would be Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on-board right off the bat, and given Xiaomi’s history — or lack of one (Redmi 3) — with major Android version upgrades, we won’t hold our breadth for the Redmi 4 Nougat update, but yes, with SD625 processor, chances of CM14.1 ROM are bright. The 6.0.1 build is topped with MIUI 8.0.10 custom skin of Xiaomi.

The device supports LTE, both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE type, while talking about the camera, you get 13MP F/2.2 aperture touting sensor at the back, while on the front, there’s a 5MP shooter.

Rounding up the remaining specs, you get cool 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, and fingerprint and infrared sensor, in a body that’s around 8.9mm thick, and weighs 156 gramnsThat sounds awesome, right? Though, there is no NFC support, which we don’t think many will miss.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A specs

Redmi 4A is a very trimmed down version of Redmi 4, as the processor, display, body frame, RAM, storage and nearly everything else takes a hit. Here’s what you get with the Redmi 4A specifications.

  • 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 processor
  • 5-inch 720 display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB storage (microSD card up to 128 GB)
  • 13MP rear camera with PDAF, 5X digital Zoom and single-LED flash
  • 5MP front camera
  • 3030mAh battery
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
  • 139.9 x 70.1 x 8.5mm
  • Colors: Rose Gold, Gold

To us, Redmi 4 is looking like a darling, only that its color options are a little bit off the trend. While Redmi 4A must be much lower priced that Redmi 4 given the hit specsheet takes, but its Rode Gold color is pretty cool. Redmi 4A is still enough for people who are more like casual users, and wanna limit their use to calls, sms, voice chat, video chat, and occasional apps and games.

Redmi 4 and 4A Price

The Redmi 4 may hit the market for 1299 yuan, while the Redmi 4 looks set for 690 yuan range.

Pricing doesn’t look out of sort by any margin, but we wished Redmi 4A too had the fingerprint sensor because it’s a unique and highly useful feature that shouldn’t be missed when buying a smartphone in 2016, till possible.
