What to know
-
Quartz is a crucial early-game resource required for crafting Glass, Scanners, and storage items.
-
You can find Quartz primarily in the shallow starting biome near your Lifepod.
-
The best spots to look for Quartz are inside and around bright orange Coral Domes.
-
No special equipment is needed to harvest Quartz; you can simply pick it up.
In Subnautica 2, gathering resources is the first major hurdle you face upon arriving on the alien planet of Cesura. Among the various minerals scattered across the ocean floor, Quartz stands out as one of the most important materials you need to collect early on.

These milky-white crystals are essential for crafting basic survival tools and expanding your underwater habitat. Finding them requires a bit of focused exploration, but once you know where to look, you can gather enough to get your initial operations running smoothly.
Quartz Harvesting Locations
The primary location for farming Quartz is the shallow ocean floor immediately surrounding your starting Lifepod. As you venture out within a 10 to 200-meter radius, you will spot distinct, bright orange Coral Domes featuring blueish-green spots.

These structures serve as the main natural spawn points for Quartz. The shallow waters make this area relatively safe for early exploration, though you must still manage your oxygen levels carefully.
How to Find and Collect Quartz
Step 1
Exit your Lifepod and begin exploring the immediate shallow waters within a 200-meter radius. Keep an eye on your oxygen levels as you dive.
Step 2
Look for bright orange Coral Domes scattered across the seabed. These formations are highly visible during the day but can be slightly harder to spot at night.

Step 3
Swim closer to the Coral Domes and check their outer edges. Occasionally, Quartz crystals grow on the exterior surfaces of these structures.
Step 4
Swim inside the Coral Domes and look upward.

Most Quartz spawns attached to the inner walls of the coral. The crystals appear as tiny, pickable milky-white rocks.

Step 5
Approach the Quartz crystals and interact with them to collect them directly into your inventory. No specialized tools are required to break or harvest them.

Step 6
Seek out Coral Domes that contain natural air pockets if you need an emergency breather while farming, allowing you to extend your harvesting runs without returning to the surface.
