The free Heat Rock is in a Poké Ball at the back of the cave to the right of the stairs in Bubbly Basin’s first Popplio-guided area; use it to warm the requested habitat, then photograph it if you want to 3D-print more copies for 2 rare Pokémetal each.
Bubbly Basin opens through the version 2.0 and Expansion Pass Part 1 flow after Bleak Beach progress, Dive, and Manaphy‘s 5 Seaweed request, so this guide starts once you can enter the underwater area. The important part is that Heat Rock is an early fixed pickup, not something you have to win from random trades before handling a warmer-habitat request.
Heat Rock location and habitat use in Pokemon Pokopia

In Bubbly Basin‘s first Popplio-guided area, the free Heat Rock is inside a Poké Ball in the cave to the right of the stairs. The pickup sits in the cave’s back corner, so use the stairs and cave entrance as your landmarks instead of searching the open town area.
KEY!
Heat Rock is the item used for Bubbly Basin requests that ask you to make a habitat warmer. Once you have it, bring it to the requested habitat and use it as the warming object there.
How to get the free Heat Rock in Pokémon Pokopia
This route takes you from Bubbly Basin’s first area to the fixed Heat Rock pickup in the right-side cave.
STEP 1/5
Reach Popplio’s first area

Enter Bubbly Basin and go to the first area where Popplio introduces the zone.
STEP 2/5
Turn right by the stairs

Use the right-hand side near the stairs as your main landmark.
STEP 3/5
Enter the cave

Go into the cave beside those stairs; the nearby habitat label may read Molten mossy rest spot.
STEP 4/5
Check the back corner

The Poké Ball appears in the corner near the back of the cave, and the spot will be empty if you already collected it.
STEP 5/5
Collect the Heat Rock

Pick up the Poké Ball to add Heat Rock to your bag.
Grab the cave Poké Ball before chasing trades; that first Heat Rock gives you the reliable copy route later.

Warming a Bubbly Basin habitat with Heat Rock
For a request that asks you to make a Bubbly Basin habitat warmer, take the Heat Rock to the relevant habitat and place or use it there as the habitat-warming object. The request is about changing the habitat, so leaving the item unused in your bag is not the goal.
The game does not give a clear one-rock temperature number in this flow. If a request or habitat still needs more warmth after your first placement, make additional copies through the printer route below and use them where the habitat needs them.
Printing extra Heat Rocks from your first copy
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Free cave pickup | Your first Heat Rock comes from the one-time Poké Ball in Bubbly Basin. |
| 3D printer copies | Repeatable after saving a Heat Rock photo reference in your album. |
| Gimmighoul or Gholdengo trades | Can give Heat Rock, but the trade reward is random. |
The reliable copy route starts after you own one Heat Rock. Place it down, open the camera, take a photo, then press Y so the album identifies and saves it as a usable reference.
Take that saved photo to the 3D printer inside a rebuilt Pokémon Center. The printer prompt asks for 2 rare Pokémetal to make Poké Heat Rocks.
What to avoid during Heat Rock habitat search in Pokopia

Do not make Gimmighoul or Gholdengo trades your primary plan when a warmer-habitat request is waiting. Their rewards can include Heat Rock, but the fixed cave pickup and printer route are the controlled path.
The free item is also not lying around the open Bubbly Basin plaza. If you are circling the town, reset your landmarks: first Popplio-guided area, right side by the stairs, cave, back corner.
For reaching Bubbly Basin from Bleak Beach, follow the underwater gate icon on the in-game map instead of leaning on conflicting east or west compass directions. Once you are inside Bubbly Basin, the Heat Rock route starts from the first area.
