In Palworld 1.0, the fastest way to farm almost everything is to pair optimized ranch Pals with automated base stations for wood, stone, ore, coal, sulfur, quartz, hardwood, oil, and late-game quarries, while manually targeting Chromite, Coralum Ore, and Sulfurite until better automation unlocks.
By the mid-game, hand-mining stone or chopping trees one swing at a time is a waste of your time. The 1.0 update leans hard into automation, so the real goal from here to level 70 — everything before the World Tree — is to let bases and ranch Pals do the gathering while you get on with playing. This runs through every building and crafting resource you’ll want along the way: which station or ranch Pal produces it, the level it unlocks, and the handful of materials you still have to go get yourself.

Treat this as your jump table. The sections below go deeper on the best Pals for each job, the exact node-dense base spots, and the manual routes for the few things you can’t leave a Pal to handle.
Base settings and ranch tuning that speed up every farm
Almost everything on the ranch scales with work skill level: the higher a Pal’s farm skill, the faster its drops. In 1.0 that’s a 10-level scale, and condensing worker Pals is far cheaper than it used to be — the old requirement of stacking well over a hundred copies has been cut to 48, so mass-producing a high-tier rancher is realistic now.
Condensing helps twice over. Beyond bumping the raw skill level, it raises the potency of the farm skill itself, because that skill is tied to the Pal’s partner skill — so even a condense rank that doesn’t push the suitability number still makes the Pal a better producer. On top of that, keep work speed high with good work-speed food and bred-in passives like Remarkable Craftsmanship, Artisan, or Serious, plus any nocturnal passive so the Pal keeps working overnight. The Farmhand passive adds +1 farm work skill to whichever Pal carries it, and a Cinnamoth sitting at the base adds +1 to every other Pal there — just note those two bonuses stop stacking once a Pal hits work skill level 10. Finally, drop any Monitoring Stand at the base and switch off every job except ranching, so your ranch Pals never wander off to chop or mine.
| Optimization | Effect |
|---|---|
| Higher work skill level | More drops per cycle |
| Lucky Pals | Do not guarantee Technique Handbooks |
| Condensing to higher star ranks | Raises farm skill and partner-skill potency |
| Work-speed food and passives | Faster ranch output |
| Nocturnal passives | Pals keep working overnight |
| Farmhand passive | +1 farm work skill on that Pal |
| Cinnamoth at the base | +1 for all other Pals (caps at level 10) |
| Monitoring Stand | Disables non-ranch jobs so Pals stay put |
Catch every Lucky Pal you see — they do not guarantee Technique Handbooks, but their Lucky passive still makes them worth checking and breeding from.
Wood, stone, Paldium, and fiber
Wood is best left to the Logging Site the moment you unlock it at level 7 — drop one at your base and your lumbering Pals generate it for free. Stone works the same way through the Stone Pit, also unlocked at level 7, which your mining Pals churn through passively for loads of stone.
Paldium is cheapest at the Crusher, which turns 5 stone into 1 Paldium. Excess spheres can be crushed down too, though the rate is poor for most of them, and meteorite fragments convert at a fair rate at the regular Crusher. If you want a steady supply of those fragments, drop the meteorite/supply-drop spawn-rate setting to 1 in world settings so meteors fall about once a minute.
Fiber is the awkward one — don’t plan around the Crusher for it, because the Crusher’s core resource conversion is stone into Paldium. Keep some manual gathering in your route when you need fiber in bulk.
Ranch Pals for organs, oil, cloth, leather, gold, and bones
The ranch is where the bulk of your passive farming lives — set the right Pal to work and it drips a specific resource around the clock. Here’s the best pick for each, with the choices that actually have a tradeoff worth knowing.
| Resource | Best ranch Pal |
|---|---|
| Wool | Cremis |
| Flame Organ | Ruby |
| Ice Organ | Foxicle |
| Electric Organ | Sparkit |
| Venom Gland | Depresso |
| Pal Fluids | Kelpsea |
| High Quality Pal Oil | Dumud Gild |
| High Quality Cloth | Sibelyx |
| Leather | Surfent |
| Gold | Dumud Gild |
| Bones | Sweepa |
Wool
Three Pals produce Wool, but Cremis starts at a higher work skill level than the third option, and it’s an early catch — so there’s no reason to settle for less.
Flame Organs
Ruby, Flambelle, and Kelpsea Ignis all tie at work skill level 1. Ruby is simply the earliest to reach, making it the default, with the other two as pure preference swaps if you like them more.
Ice Organs
Foxicle starts at work skill level 3 — higher than the alternative — and a level-15 alpha version is catchable early, so you get an efficient Ice Organ farmer well before you actually need one.
Electric Organs
Sparkit is the only Pal that generates Electric Organs at the ranch, and it’s another early one, so slot it in the moment your ranch is standing.
Venom Glands
Depresso handles this from the ranch and is the earlier catch.
Pal Fluids
Not technically an organ, but farmed the same way — Kelpsea handles it, and since it’s one of the most common early fishing rewards, you’ll probably have one on hand already.
High Quality Pal Oil
Dumud is the classic pick, but Dumud Gild starts a full four levels higher and splits its output between oil and gold. Used as base-level Pals, Dumud Gild actually out-produces plain Dumud on oil while handing you gold on the side. Only if you grind both to work skill level 10 does regular Dumud edge ahead on pure oil — and that’s a mountain of upgrades, so Dumud Gild is the better call for almost everyone.
High Quality Cloth
Sibelyx solves this outright, and the new Sibelyx Primo does the same job at a higher base skill level. Breed one from Sibelyx paired with either Lupore or Lupine out of Sunreach.
Leather
Surfent is the lone ranch answer, catchable around level 15 across several early areas — a clean fix for a resource players used to burn piles of gold to buy instead.
Gold
Dumud Gild doubles as your best passive gold Pal, and Mau — bred from Chikipi and Depresso, or found in early-area dungeons — is a pure gold rancher that starts at a lower level. The gold-coin production line exists too, but it unlocks above level 70 and eats resources fast, so it’s the most resource-hungry option. For real income, selling specific Pals is far better: a level-50-ish Dumud Gild goes for around 55,000 gold — more than even a legendary alpha 20 levels above it — and Turtacle Terra fetches about 40,000. Prices scale with level, so treat those as examples rather than fixed prices. You can catch Dumud Gild on the north shore of Sakurajima or by fishing, and Turtacle Terra lines the island’s southern beach. Hauling Sulfurite ore to sell is a third burst option, though you’ll usually have better uses for it.
Bones
Two Pals produce Bones at the ranch; Sweepa starts at work skill level 2 for the slightly better rate, and you can catch it on Sakurajima Island at night.
Automating ore, coal, sulfur, pure quartz, and hardwood
This is where automation really takes over. Each of these gets a dedicated base station that mines infinitely without needing nodes on the ground, so once you’ve cleared the unlock level you can stop gathering by hand entirely.
| Resource | Base station | Unlock level |
|---|---|---|
| Ore | Ore Mining Site | Earlier than 24 |
| Coal | Coal Quarry | 37 |
| Sulfur | Sulfur Quarry | 46 |
| Pure Quartz | Quartz Quarry | 52 |
| Hardwood | Logging Site II | 43 |
For ore, the Ore Mining Site frees you from node-locked bases, and Ore Mining Site II is just a straight upgrade of the same thing — pair either with good miners and it hums along. If you ever do mine by hand, ride a Mammorest, whose partner skill massively boosts both mining and lumbering efficiency while mounted, and lean on Turtical, which sharply cuts ore weight — though only for base ore, not the higher tiers.
Before the quarries come online, a couple of node-dense spots cover the gap. There’s a coal-heavy pocket in the desert near Alpha Suzaku, an elevated section holding nine coal nodes, and a standout mining base spot with nine sulfur nodes, one ore node, and six pure quartz nodes in one place — enough to cover both sulfur and quartz until you hit level 52.
Hardwood is new in 1.0 and adds a progression step above regular wood. The Logging Site II is its own station — not a replacement for the base Logging Site despite the “II” — dedicated to producing hardwood. For manual runs, the earliest reliable source is the desert-y area around the middle of the map, where all the desert trees count as hardwood; the Sakura trees on Sakurajima and the trees in the big desert proper are hardwood too, and beyond that point most level-scaled trees drop it anyway.
Crude oil extraction and whether oil-node bases still matter
Crude Oil is in a much better place now. Small amounts turn up in early supply-drop crates, but for real volume you need an extractor. The Crude Oil Extractor at level 50 pulls from an oil node, so it has to sit on one; one level later, the High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor at level 51 does the same job without a node, meaning you can place it on bare ground anywhere in a base.
That’s the tradeoff: you’re no longer forced to plant a base on top of oil the way you used to be, but the high-pressure version draws a lot more electricity, so a base dedicated to oil extraction can still be worth it. The two best spots for that are the island just south of the starting area, which has around six oil nodes across it, and the island off the coast of the desert, which has the same six-node layout — either lets you ring a base with nodes and run cheaper extractors.
Mining Site on Feybreak Island
Catch a Smokey
Its partner skill literally points out nearby Chromite, so you never work a cave blind.
Head into any Feybreak Island cave
These caves are packed with Chromite to mine through.
Push to the boss room
Trigger Smokey’s skill there to make even more Chromite surface.
Farm the Silvegis rock
This Pal drops a Chromite-rich rock on defeat that’s very easy to repeat.
Hexolite Quartz farming and its automation
Hexolite Quartz can be fully automated in your base with the Hexolite Quartz Mine once you reach level 62. Until then, one of the best pre-automation base spots holds three Hexolite Quartz nodes in its radius plus a crude oil node — handy if you’d rather run a normal extractor without the high-pressure electricity cost.
If you need a bigger haul before level 62, head into the Feybreak dungeons and mine the ore there; they’re a strong source of Hexolite while you wait on the mine.
Salvaging Coralum Ore along the Feybreak coast
Bring a swimming mount and Powerful Fishing Magnets
Both unlock alongside the Coralum Ingots anyway, so you’ll have them when you need them.
Catch a Gelaroy for the boost
Its partner skill raises salvage rewards by a large amount — fish for it at night to find one.
Ride the Feybreak Island coastline
Look for the little salvage spots dotted around the water’s edge.
Spend one magnet per salvage spot
Each one hands back a nice pile of Coralum Ore.
Sulfurite on the Sky Island
Reach the Sky Island biome
Sulfurite is exclusive to it, and you can collect it all across the biome.
Claim a six-node base spot
Two marked locations each hold six Sulfurite rock nodes, the densest clusters that fit in a base radius.
Farm the central island under the tower
For manual runs, its ground is covered in scattered Sulfurite nodes.
Ride a Mammorest while you mine
It boosts your mining efficiency massively as you clear them.
Hit the shiny weak spot with the Multi-Cutter
Aim for the glowing, sparkling patch on each node to break it in seconds.
Ancient Civilization Parts, Manuscripts, and Cores
These three end up in the same tech but come from very different places, so it’s worth splitting them.
| Item | Best source |
|---|---|
| Ancient Civilization Parts | Butcher bred alpha Pals |
| Ancient Pal Manuscripts | Highest-level expeditions |
| Ancient Civilization Cores | Astral Frost Cavern expeditions |
For Ancient Civilization Parts, bred alpha Pals share the boss version’s drop pool. That means if you deliberately breed alpha Pals, you can butcher them over and over for a steady stream of parts. To force alphas on every breed, pair a condensed Broncherry with a Broncherry Aqua, whose partner skills combine to guarantee it, then multiply the eggs per breed with a Vegetable Cake and a Grintale at the base. If you can breed in the new Lavish Hospitality or Service-Minded passives, they add an extra 100% and 50% respectively to butchered materials, making each Pal go even further.
Ancient Pal Manuscripts come from fishing on RNG, but the reliable source is expeditions — always run the highest-level ones you can field, since they scale up the manuscript payout alongside everything else. Once you reach Astral Frost Cavern expeditions and beyond, those same runs start dropping Ancient Civilization Cores, which stay the main source right up until the true end game.
Cake ingredients beyond the basic recipe
Assuming you already have the basic cake loop running, the fancier recipes only need a few extra ingredients — and most of them have a clean ranch or plantation answer.
| Ingredient | Farm method |
|---|---|
| Mushrooms | Ranch — Shroomer |
| Cavern Mushrooms | Ranch — Shroomer |
| Tomato | Plantation, or Vaelette ranch seeds |
| Lettuce | Plantation, or Vaelette ranch seeds |
| Cotton Candy | Ranch — Woolipop |
| Potatoes | Plantation (bought seeds) |
| Onions | Plantation (bought seeds) |
| Carrots | Plantation (bought seeds) |
| Caramel Cotton Candy | Ranch — Woolipop Terra |
| Mammorest Meat | Breed + mass-butcher Mammorest |
The Mushroom Cake wants Mushrooms and Cavern Mushrooms, both farmed at the ranch by Shroomer from Sakurajima Island. The Vegetable Cake adds Tomato and Lettuce — both have plantations you can build once you have the seeds, or you can gamble at the ranch with Vaelette, which produces a random spread of seeds when placed there.
The Extravagant Vegetable Cake needs Cotton Candy, Potatoes, Onions, and Carrots. The last three are all plantation crops once you own the seeds, and Cotton Candy comes from a Woolipop at the ranch, a relatively early Pal. The Special Cakes sit above level 70, but you can start banking their ingredients early: Caramel Cotton Candy comes from Woolipop Terra, a new 1.0 variant you can breed ahead of time by crossing Woolipop with Killamari, while Mammorest Meat is simplest of all — breed Mammorest in bulk, stack Lavish Hospitality and Service-Minded, and mass-butcher them.
Build order toward level 70
Basic wood, stone, Paldium, and fiber
Drop a Logging Site and Stone Pit at level 7 and use the Crusher for Paldium.

Late-game manual material loops
Slot in Chromite, Coralum, Sulfurite, and alpha-Pal butchering runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can every Palworld resource be fully automated?
Not quite. Almost everything has a base station or a ranch Pal that produces it passively — wood, stone, ore, coal, sulfur, quartz, hardwood, Hexolite Quartz, and even crude oil. The gaps are three ores: Chromite has no automation at all, Coralum Ore is a manual salvage route, and Sulfurite only gets a quarry at level 72, above this guide’s window. Everything else you can leave a Pal to handle.
What Pal Appearance Rate should I use for farming?
Set it to 1.9×. That’s high enough to flood the world with extra regular Pal spawns — great for catching workers and Lucky Pals — but it stops just short of 2.0×, where the game also starts duplicating boss spawns. Treat 1.9× as a tested sweet spot rather than a permanent rule, since spawn behavior can shift between patches.
Which resources still need manual farming before level 70?
Chromite, Coralum Ore, and Sulfurite are the main holdouts. On top of those, the automation stations gate behind levels — Ore Mining Site earlier than 24, Coal Quarry at 37, Sulfur Quarry at 46, Quartz Quarry at 52 — so before each unlock you’ll lean on the base at (190, -40) to bridge the gap. Fiber also stays hands-on, since the Crusher converts stone into Paldium instead.
What is the best passive gold farm in Palworld?
A Dumud Gild on the ranch, which drips both High Quality Pal Oil and gold at once. If you’d rather not split output, Mau is a pure-gold rancher, though it starts at a lower work skill level. Passive income won’t match actively selling high-value Pals, but it ticks over the whole time you’re playing.
Do I still need to build an oil base on oil nodes?
No. The High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor at level 51 pulls oil from bare ground anywhere in a base, so you’re no longer forced onto an oil-node island. The catch is electricity — it draws far more power than the level-50 node-bound extractor, so a dedicated six-node oil base is still worth it if you’d rather not pay that running cost.
More questions⤵
What ranch Pals should I prioritize first?
Start with the early, high-impact ones: Sparkit for Electric Organs, Cremis for Wool, Ruby for Flame Organs, and Kelpsea for Pal Fluids, since all are easy early catches. Right behind them, Dumud Gild covers oil and gold together, Surfent handles Leather, and Sibelyx handles High Quality Cloth — the resources that are otherwise a real chore to gather by hand.
