Samsung has realized that it’s been some time since Apple watch has been out, and there is no Android watch that has anything that mimics the Digital Crown. So what Samsung does? Well, it decides that it need to gear up — more than Gear S, that’s to say — make a new smartwatch (codenamed Orbis), and bring the Digital Crown itself, albeit as Power button (how could Samsung simply copy paste even the functions, after all that that happened between Apple and Samsung in court, you know). But there is something more, that’s also truly Samsung (apart from just-talked rip), addition of one certain cool feature: the rotating bezel, which a Samsung Orbis user will be able to rotate to affect the UI, and apps, in very interactive way. Sound pretty cool, eh?
Samsung will give its best shot to Orbis (come on, think more than Crown-shaped Power button!), and with premium material and an exciting design in tow, Orbis is going to be a pricey device, the report has it. Even pricier than Gear S, for comparison’s sake.
We’ve heard about the toned-down to Nexus 6-level TouchWiz on Galaxy S6 already, which is another software-level change Samsung of 2015 will have, but we’re yet to see a Galaxy S6 render or anything, so we’re still clueless as regards how much Samsung’s hardware will shape up? Can Samsung build products like HTC, for example? The Galaxy S6 and this new smartwatch, Orbis, will be perfect example of what kind of aesthetics you can expect from Samsung going forward.
What do you think about Orbis, by the way?
