Nexus 6 isn’t really that costly for what it comes loaded with, but it still gets your pocket lighter by full $650. So, what next for those of you who want a Nexus 6 sized device with decent specs, some $200 less costly? Well, Oppo U3.
Oppo U3 doesn’t quite pack the firepower like the Nexus 6, but it’s got the massive display, 5.9″ panel with Full HD resolution (that’s 373 PPI, which is nice), an impressive 64-bit Octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor and 2GB of RAM thrumming inside it to take on whatever apps and games you throw at it.
Oppo U3 also features 13MP cam at the rear, while the front houses a 5MP one. It comes with 16GB internal storage, while it weighs pretty hefty at 188 grams. We don’t know the battery capacity of Oppo U3, but there is something cool we know about battery, that it supports VOOC fast charging. If you remember the Oppo R5 that was recently launched in India, it supported VOOC charging, and that made it capable of getting you 2 hours of outright talk-time in just 5 mins of charge, while a 30 min charge can fill its 2000 mAh battery by 75%.
Like other Oppo devices, including the just-launched Oppo R1C, the U3 is quite slim too, measuring out just 8mm in thickness.
Finally, the price of Oppo U3 is said to be 2,798 yuan, which in familiar terms is around $450 (or INR 28,000, around the same price a stunner device we know as Oppo R5 is available in India, only INR 1,000 higher).
No doubt, for its price, Oppo U3 is a great offering when it comes to hardware. Because when things go soft, Nexus 6 gets you Android 5.0.2 now — and few later updates first of all — while you’d have to wait for what can be ages for software upgrade with Oppo U3, as we think the device will come with Android 4.4 KitKat installed, with ColorOS custom skin of Oppo.
What do you think about Oppo U3’s price as regards it specs?
