Oppo R11 to feature 20MP camera and Snapdragon 660 processor, early June release rumored

Oppo’s hold over the camera phone market has been pretty solid which was further consolidated by last year’s premium mid-range Oppo R series smartphones namely R9 and R9 Plus. As such, when the time nears for the release of another R series device, all are curious to know what Oppo will do to keep itself ahead in the camera phone segment. As obvious, the upcoming Oppo R11 will have strong cameras, a new leak confirms that.

Coming from Weibo, the leak shows that Oppo R11 will sport a 20MP front shooter, which is an upgrade from the 16MP selfie snapper we have seen on Oppo R9 and R9 Plus. Now a past leak had also revealed that this phone might come with dual rear cameras which if true, will be a great addition for camera phone lovers.

The leak also confirms that Oppo will release the phone in the first half of June. Most importantly, another past rumor of Oppo R11 sporting the Snapdragon 660 SoC gets confirmed by the leak.

We have seen renders of this upcoming Oppo phone bearing great resemblance to iPhone 7 Plus with regards to the rear camera placement and the antenna lines. Now that’s nothing new as many times Chinese smartphone makers have been found copying the smartphone design of top OEMs and packing their own devices with less costly material, thus bringing down the final cost of their devices, which despite the low cost has a premium look and feel. And this is where the Chinese OEMs have scored well and fast climbing the success ladder. This is not to say that these companies do not have any innovative ideas. We have seen Xiaomi come up with bezel less smartphones and designs which other companies are trying to copy.

Now how the Oppo R11 will finally look like should get clearer next month. Until then, we are hoping to catch a few more glimpses of it via new leaks.
