What to know
- OpenAI has brought ChatGPT’s voice chat feature to web browsers, letting you talk directly through desktop browsers.

- You can pick from nine voices for ChatGPT, which understands your emotions and talking speed.
OpenAI has brought voice conversations to web browsers, moving beyond mobile and desktop apps. You can now talk with ChatGPT through your web browser.
The feature announced uses OpenAI’s audio technology to let you have real-time chats. ChatGPT catches both your words and how you say them, making conversations feel more natural.
You’ll find the Voice icon at the bottom-right of ChatGPT’s window. Once you let your browser use your microphone, a blue orb shows up, telling you voice mode is ready.
You get nine different voices to choose from for ChatGPT. Each voice has its own style – like “Arbor” for casual chats or “Ember” for upbeat talks.
Right now, you need a paid plan to use this feature, but free users will get it soon. If you’re a paid user, keep in mind there are daily limits, and you’ll get a 15-minute heads-up before hitting them.
This web version means more people can use voice chat without downloading extra apps, making AI conversations easier for everyone.
