OnePlus is one of the best non-Google smartphone vendors when it comes to software updates. The Chinese vendor not only keeps up with Google in terms of rolling out monthly security patches and Android OS updates, but it also maintains a beta program that is open to the public for all of its devices.
Today, OnePlus has new updates ready for those taking part in the Open Beta program using any of OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T phones. The former two are receiving updates with the same changelog and so is the case for the latter two.
For the OnePlus 5, Open Beta 27 update brings enhancements to Gaming mode and adds weather information in the world clock module. The same changes are part of Open Beta 25 that’s rolling out to the 5T.
If you own any of OnePlus 6 or 6T, the new updates tag along improvements to the stability of video calls, fix for lag experienced when setting an alarm and the usual bug fixes and improvements. Where the former is receiving Open Beta 13, the latter is on Open Beta 5.
These updates are airborne, and as such, they’ll take time to reach out to all units. Having just begun rolling out, you may have to wait until the weekend before the OTA download notification arrives.
All four devices have already been updated to Android 9 Pie, so these updates are based on the latest and greatest from Google. Pie beta is also expected to arrive on the aging OnePlus 3 and 3T in the coming days or weeks.
