Since the launch of the OnePlus 5 and 6 families, the OnePlus 3 duo have fallen down the pecking order when it comes to software updates.
At some point, the OnePlus 3 and 3T were never going past Android 8.0 Oreo, but then the company later announced that it will skip Oreo 8.1 and instead roll out an update to Android 9 Pie to the duo. To date, this update hasn’t arrived, despite the stable Pie having arrived on the OnePlus 5 and 5T more than two months ago.
To that effect, owners of OnePlus 3 and 3T have been full of questions, asking the company when the update will arrive. And indeed, OnePlus has some encouraging answers for you.
Apparently, the plan to roll out Pie updates to the 3 and 3T is still on, however, the update is still one security patch away from arriving on the duo. Unlike OnePlus 6 and 6T, the 2016 duo no longer receives monthly security patches, rather, they come after about two or so months, with the last one having arrived in mid-December carrying November 2018 security patches.
If anything, the said security patch should arrive sometime this March 2019, with the update to Pie likely to follow somewhere in May 2019.
