OnePlus 5 is now official, and it’s everything rumors suggested. But, can it survive scratch and burn tests? That’s exactly what Zack at JerryRigEverything YouTube channel tested?
So, does the OnePlus 5 survive these brutal torture tests, you ask? Well, keep reading to find out.
Firstly, Zack puts the OnePlus 5 through a severe scratch test (the same treatment all the phones before it received). While the OnePlus 5 did pick up scratches at one point (extreme level), it is highly unlikely for the everyday objects like keys and coins in your pocket to cause such scratches to the handset.

The back panel as well picked up a few marks in the test when scratched with a coin or key. But, they didn’t leave a scratch mark and were easily wiped off with a finger as you can see in the video below.
Then comes the burn test. OnePlus 5 did manage to survive around 40 seconds (over a half minute) before picking up a white burn mark caused by the flame. And taking into consideration the fact that the OnePlus 5 has an AMOLED display, the screen never recovered from burn marks akin to the LCD screens. So, make sure you don’t expose your handset to open flame.

And finally, when Zack performed the bend test, a certain portion of the screen did pop out of the frame leaving us in a shock for a bit. It, however, restored to its original position (into the frame) on a slight push. Zack says that this is due to the lack of waterproofing adhesive. It’s worth noting that the screen, on the whole, didn’t suffer much during the bend test.
Overall, the OnePlus 5 passed all the three — scratch, burn, and bend tests without any significant issues indicating that the OnePlus 5 has been built solidly.
