OxygenOS 9.0.5 update for OnePlus 3/3T installs August 2019 security patch

OnePlus has started the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 9.0.5 for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Despite being succeeded by three flagships, OnePlus 3 and 3T are still being supported by the generous Chinese OEM.

OnePlus rolled out the Android Pie update OxygenOS 9.0.2 in May and has rolled out three updates since. Alongside the Pie update, OxygenOS 9.0.2 packed a host of OnePlus goodness, including the highly-anticipated Gaming Mode 3.0.

OxygenOS 9.0.5 doesn’t bring any major changes to the device, with it only introducing the August security patch and fixing general bugs.

Here’s the complete changelog:

  • System
    • Updated Android security patch to 2019.8
    • General bug fixes and improvements

As it’s an incremental rollout, it might take a while for your OnePlus 3/3T to get the automatic update notification.

The update to Android 9.0 marked the third Android OS upgrade for the 2016-flagship. Getting another upgrade — Android Q — seems highly unlikely. But that doesn’t mean the OnePlus 3/3T users will miss out on cool features from Android Q because we are sure there would some cool custom ROMs based on Q will be available for the OnePlus’ 2016 flagships.
