More and more news concerning the Galaxy S3 is coming out as we count the days remaining for Samsung’s Unpacked 2012 event in London on May 3. Sammobile has obtained the specifications and sketch of a device from one of their inside sources at Samsung, taken from the service manual for the GT-I9300, which is supposed to be the upcoming Galaxy S3.
The image shows that the Galaxy S3 (if it really is the S3) will come with a new type of Super AMOLED display, along with a processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which is strange considering the 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor announced by Samsung. The GT-I9300 will also feature the traditional hardware home button and capacitive back and home buttons, which if true will turn out to be a downer for those who were expecting virtual on-screen buttons made famous by the latest iteration of Android.
However, with the specifications listing an 8 MP camera as opposed to the 12 MP one that the S3 is supposed to come with, and the source claiming that the image could be from one of the first service manuals for the device, there’s every possibility of the design changing in the final version.
So whether this turns out to be the Galaxy S3, or the GT-I9300 turns out to be a completely different device, remains to be seen. We’ll just put this piece of information in our rumor folder for the Galaxy S3, which by now has gotten quite heavy.
