, to get autocorrect options. You can turn this feature on or off from the context menu. - The feature is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels.
If Notepad is your go-to app for taking notes, you can now start drafting notes without any typos or mistakes. The update is rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels in the Notepad version 11.2402.18.0.
Once updated, Notepad will highlight any misspelled words by underlining them in red and give suggestions so you can easily fix the mistakes. Users can correct highlighted mistakes by clicking on them (or using the shortcut Shift+F10
) and choosing from one of the suggestions.
If you think Notepad has misidentified a word as a typo, you can add them to the dictionary as well so it’s not highlighted again. By default, spellcheck and autocorrect is enabled for only a few file types. Log files and coding-related file types won’t have this feature enabled. The spellcheck and autocorrect feature can be enabled or disabled from the context menu.
Microsoft has been upgrading Notepad with various little features, including tabs, auto-save notes, and an Explain with Copilot feature. We hope to see such quality of life updates appear continuously to keep Notepad relevant for Windows users.
