HMD Global will be at the MWC 2018 to unveil the Nokia 6 2018 to the world alongside the successors to the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3310 that were unveiled at the same event a year ago. In addition, the company is also rumored to be lining up the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco for the same event, but there’s more in store, at least according to the latest reports.

Having broken into the top 10 leading handset vendors in the world, HMD is now looking to force its way higher up the smartphone ranks by launching a flurry of phones this year. Besides the aforementioned handsets, there’s also talk of the Nokia 1, Nokia 4, Nokia 9, Nokia 10 and now Nokia 8 Pro.

Without further ado, here’s everything we know about the Nokia 8 Pro.

Nokia 8 Pro specs and features

  • Double-glass design
  • 18:9 display screen
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Android Oreo out of the box
  • Penta-lens camera by Carl Zeiss

According to the latest rumors, HMD is working on a device dubbed Nokia 8 Pro. So far, this is the first time this name is popping up, however, NokiaPowerUser has reason to believe this could be the previously rumored Nokia 10, the 2018 Nokia flagship phone.

Names aside, the alleged Nokia 8 Pro will reportedly come with an 18:9 display screen of unknown size, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a glass back and front and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Of course, Android Oreo will run the show out of the box, but it’s the camera that’ll be even more interesting.

As noted, the Nokia 8 Pro is thought of as the previously rumored Nokia 10. If this is indeed true and that the leaked details of the Nokia 10 are also true, we could soon see the first smartphone with five camera lenses.

Huawei is already lining up a tri-lens setup on the P20 and P20 Plus and if the Nokia 8 Pro does come with a Penta-lens camera module, it’ll indeed be interesting to see how things turn up, especially since we know Carl Zeiss technology will be all over the place.

Speaking of Carl Zeiss, the company has recently patented rotating zoom camera technology, which is what could be used in the Nokia 8 Pro Penta-lens camera. Apparently, the company had even teased this multi-camera technology when announcing its partnership with HMD back in 2017, supposedly showing off how the lenses will work with each other, as shown below.

HMD has proven to be aggressive with its pricing strategy and it seems to be working. Unlike other OEMs, the company has reasonable prices, something that is reflected in the price tag of the Nokia 8 compared to other equally powerful phones.

We don’t know what the Nokia 8 Pro would be priced at, but looking at the company’s strategy, our guess is it could be priced between €650 and €750.

Apparently, HMD has plans to unveil the phone somewhere in August or September this year, probably with the IFA 2018 in mind. However, since even the name of the phone isn’t confirmed, be sure to treat this like you’d do with any other rumor – with a grain of salt.
