Nokia smartphone owners, it is time to rejoice. HMD Global, the firm behind the new Nokia handsets has confirmed that the three musketeers, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, will be upgraded to Android 8.0 (O).

Android O, which is the upcoming OS update from Google, was officially announced last month, at Google I/O conference 2017. The OS is slated for release in the late Q3 2017 (September or October).

That said, it is highly unlikely that the three devices will get the update soon. Interestingly, the three devices that were announced in Feb, at this year’s MWC are still not available globally. However, all the three devices run on Android 7 Nougat.

Although the exact time frame for the arrival of Android O on Nokia devices is not known, considering the fact that the new Nokia devices run on almost stock Android, it won’t take much time for the HMD Global to tweak the OS to suit Nokia devices. So, probably, before the onset of next year, Android O would have graced Nokia devices.

Android O brings new features such as revamped settings, notification snooze, new emojis, notification badges and improved battery among other things, which you can check here. Notably, OnePlus also recently announced that their flagship devices, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be upgraded to Android O, once it is available.
