ASUS has announced that the Android 4.2 update is headed to the Nexus 7 in the “very near future”, something which we already know will happen as soon as the new Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 get launched on November 13. The Nexus 7 was Google’s Android 4.1 flagship device, so it will not be surprising if it gets the update first of all.
While still called Jelly Bean, Android 4.2 brings some major new features, such as Photo Sphere for 360 degrees panorama photos, multi-user support, Swype-like typing in the stock keyboard via Gesture Typing, improved Google Now, while improving existing functionality like Android Beam with support for sharing more types of content, quick settings toggles in the notifications menu, timer and stopwatch functionality in a redesigned clock, and more.
We’ll update you on when the update actually starts to roll out.
