A little over a month ago, quite a few Apple iPhone 5 users had reported that they found purple haze issues on image clicked with their phone camera. While, the Android world dismissed the matter as an iPhone exclusive issue, it now appears that the newly released Google Nexus 4 may be exhibiting the same symptoms of purple lens flare.
A Google+ user has uploaded this rather purplish Photosphere shot, as you can see above, which shows that the latest and greatest from Google may also be prone to producing considerable amounts of purple lens flare, too.
In the case of the iPhone 5, while Apple originally dismissed the issue as normal behavior, it later released a support article which stated that light sources just outside the main field of view would cause reflections off the surfaces in the camera module resulting in the undesirable purplish hue to the images.
It does appear that the image above has been shot in a small space, with bright light sources directly in the field of view. Given those circumstances, this could happen with any other phone camera, the Nexus 4 being no different. On the other hand, those who may be already looking at this as a deal breaker may want to consider all the other awesome stuff that the Nexus 4 comes with – quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, Android 4.2 and guaranteed updates from Google to keep you ahead of the rest of the pack.
What do you think? Would this issue be a deciding factor in whether or not to go for the Nexus 4. For the price that Google has attached to it, I would think people wouldn’t be too bothered with trivial stuff like this.
