Rebirth unlocks automatically once one MyPLAYER reaches 90 OVR, then lets newly created Rebirth builds skip the MyPOINTS cap grind up to your previous highest max OVR and receive tier-based Badge Tokens, although each build still begins at 60 OVR and requires VC for attribute upgrades.
Rebirth is built for players who want to try another position or replace a flawed MyPLAYER without repeating the full early progression grind. Its value increases across four tiers, so when you create that next save matters almost as much as reaching the first unlock.
How to unlock Rebirth and activate it on a new MyPLAYER
Track Rebirth in MyCAREER

Open MyCAREER quests and check Unpluckable to see your Rebirth tier requirements and progress.
Use the Ronnie 2K introduction if it appears
Interact with the Rebirth holohelp beside the MyCourt exit to hear the introduction; the tier unlock remains automatic, while the objective may show a 10,000 VC reward.
Reach 90 OVR on one build
Earn MyPOINTS to raise that MyPLAYER’s max OVR, then purchase enough attributes with VC to bring its current rating to at least 90 OVR.
Create another MyPLAYER
Return to the main menu, start a new build, and finish choosing its attributes and build setup.
Accept the Rebirth prompt
Before confirming the new MyPLAYER, choose to use Rebirth so the new save receives the highest tier you have unlocked.
What Rebirth changes and what it does not pay for

Rebirth separates your current OVR from your unlocked max OVR. The new MyPLAYER opens at 60 OVR, but its attribute ceiling immediately extends to the highest max OVR you previously unlocked on another build. Its current rating rises only after you spend VC on those available attributes.
This removes the need to earn MyPOINTS for every cap between 60 OVR and the inherited ceiling. If your previous highest max OVR was below 99, however, the new build must resume earning MyPOINTS once it reaches that inherited limit.
Rebirth also releases a tier-based share of the new build’s default Badge Tokens immediately. Badges continue progressing faster as you play, but you must still meet their attribute requirements and allocate the available tokens.
The benefit applies only while creating a new Rebirth save. It cannot be attached retroactively to an existing MyPLAYER.
NBA 2K27 Rebirth tiers and Badge Token rewards
| Rebirth tier | Unlock requirement | Badge tokens available on new builds |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | One build at 90+ OVR | 25% of default Badge Tokens |
| Gold | One build at 95+ OVR | 50% of default Badge Tokens |
| Hall of Fame | Two builds at 95+ OVR | 75% of default Badge Tokens |
| Legend | Three builds at 95+ OVR | 100% of default Badge Tokens |
Key Every tier uses the same max-OVR inheritance and provides 15% faster badge progression; the percentage of default Badge Tokens released on day one is what scales. The Rebirth tier also determines how far eligible badges automatically upgrade after their attribute requirements are met.
When to make a Rebirth build and mistakes to avoid
If an early build feels wrong and you have invested little VC in it, restarting normally can cost less than forcing an unwanted MyPLAYER to 90 OVR. If that build is already close to 90 OVR, finish the climb instead and use Silver Rebirth on its replacement.
Push a usable main build to 95 OVR before creating alternatives. This opens Gold Rebirth before you divide VC and playtime among additional builds.
When planning the new build, read its inherited max OVR as upgrade headroom, not free attributes, and budget VC accordingly. Judge badge ceilings from the original builder attributes as well: if a Cap Breaker raised an old build’s badge maximum from Silver to Gold, even a Gold Rebirth recognizes only the original Silver ceiling on the new save.
