The latest software update available for the Sprint Galaxy Note 4 is N910PVPU4COG5, and it also brings Android 5.1.1 update to the device apart from fixing the Stagefright bug. In case you are unable to update via over the air (OTA) way, here is the full firmware available for download along with nice step-by-step guide to help you get the update. Credit for the Odin TAR COG5 update goes to the good guy over at XDA, Sunderwear, thanks man!
In case root access is what is very important for you, luckily, the PG5 update has already been rooted too. Do note install the Samsung stock firmware will remove root, custom recovery and like TWRP and custom ROM, if any, currently installed on your device.

Supported devices
- SPRINT GALAXY NOTE 4, model no. SM-N910P
- Don’t try this on any other Galaxy Note 4 device than the model no. SM-G910P
- Don’t try on any other device whatsoever!
Disclaimer: Installing an official firmware through Odin doesn’t void your device’s warranty, but it remains an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious of it. In any case, you only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.
Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files. Sometimes, Odin installation may delete everything on your device!
Step-by-step Guide
- Power off your Note 4, Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
- Press and hold the three buttons Volume down + Power + Home together until you see warning screen
- Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
- You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
- If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
- You can try different USB ports on your PC too.

- Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 of firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.

- If Odin gets stuck at set up connection, then you need to close Odin, disconnect the device, and then do the procedure again.
- Or, if you get FAIL in the top left box, you need to try flashing again, as stated just above.

That’s it. Enjoy your Sprint Galaxy Note 4 on the latest Android 5.1.1 update with OG5 firmware!

Is this rooted firmware already?
No. It’s stock, and that means it’s not modified at all. Not rooted of course.
Steps to root a stock?

UGH !!! I didn’t read these comments (Ghostery had them blocked) … I WAS rooted and this now just FUCKED ME! Why did you not have a huge disclaimer at the top saying it is not rooted? Furthermore, your text even says “In case root access is what is very important for you, luckily, the PG5 update has already been rooted too.” so what the hell just happened?! How do I get my root back?? I tried to re-do the CF-Auto-Root but now it fails.

My phone is rooted, so will this stock firmware work on my phone? (i don’t care if i lose the rooted status of my phone after flashing the 5.1.1 stock firmware).
It will work.
Just to let you know, i have downloaded & followed your guide to the letter and i have successfully installed the 5.1.1 stock firmware, and now i have noticed instant performance boast and the device is working flawlessly, and now i am able to receive OTA updates. Thank you.
But can you kindly tell me that of which month like 16 july or November 16 or 14 december was this stock firmware update built on?
and please in future, you should also upload the marshmallow stock firmware updates here, once it gets released of course.
Thanks once again 😀
