Both the Motorola RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD are slated for a holiday release this year, but according to a rumor from Howard Forums, the launch of both devices may be delayed in the US due to some antenna issues plaguing them. The issue reportedly is that the antennas make contact with the edges of the device, causing problems.
According to Droid Life and their sources, Verizon has set a potential launch date of October 18 for both devices, and prices of $199 (RAZR HD) and $299 (MAXX HD), but it’s fairly certain that the October launch date won’t be possible if the antenna issues are real. The hardware changes that would be required to fix the antenna problems would need quite a major rework and time, so Motorola will have to move quite fast if they don’t want to cause too big a delay in the devices’ release.
With the RAZR HD already available in Brazil, it could be that the problem exists with the LTE/CDMA variants, so it remains to be seen where the truth lies and whether the rumor of antenna issues has some truth behind it or not. We’ll see how this plays out and will let you know of any developments, so stay tuned.
