The first generation Motorola Moto Z and Z2 Force will soon start receiving the Android Oreo update in Brazil as part of a soak test. Once the soak test is over, Motorola should release the update to everyone.
A soak test is similar to the Galaxy Beta Program from Samsung, where users have to sign up to a program to receive beta versions of an upcoming software update. In case of the Moto Z, the entire current line of devices would be updated to Android Oreo.
Those who signed up for the soak test, will receive an update on their Moto Z and the Moto Z2 Force. According to the report, the first beta may arrive in the next two days. It is believed that Motorola might release the official Oreo update in December.
The Android experience on the Moto Z phones is near stock, with the inclusion of a few Motorola apps and some design changes here and there. You can expect all of the features from Android 8.0 Oreo and some Motorola exclusives as well.
After the Moto Z and Moto Z2 Force, the Moto Z Play and Z2 Play will be updated to Android Oreo. The Motorola G5 series, and the G4 series are also slated to get the Oreo update. Check out our Motorola Oreo update page to see what devices are getting the update.
In other news, OnePlus recently released the Android Oreo update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Other OEMs such as Nokia and Samsung are also working hard to get the update to its users.
