The Moto X Play from 2015 wasn’t really a flagship level device. The Snapdragon 615 chipset present inside limited the device to achieving the top tier status. But that can be easily remedied now that the smartphone has Cyanogenmod 14.1 available.
CyanogenMod brings a whole lot of new functionality to the table. From performance increases to better battery life, CyanogenMod gives wings to your smartphone much like Redbull does to you. The Moto X Play also has other custom ROMs like AICP 12.1 which is based on Android 7.1.1.
The Moto X play is also gearing for an official Nougat OTA release most probably by early in 2017.
If CM 14.1 seems to be buggy and you miss the feel of Marshmallow, Cyanogenmod 13 and other custom ROMs are also available for the device. Many more Motorola devices are in line for the Nougat update too.
