The Moto X Play comes with stock Android and some really cool/useful features from Motorola. However, there are things on Android that only a custom ROM can deliver, and of course it has to be CM12.1 to begin the journey with.
Moto X Play CM12.1 ROM has just arrived over at xda as an unofficial build for now, maintained by developer sai24. The ROM is currently in beta testing and the developer doesn’t actually own the device, so we are waiting for user’s feedback on the stability of the ROM.
If you’d like to give a test drive to the CM12.1 ROM on your Moto X Play, below is download link for the ROM and Gapps (Moto X Play compatible) files. However, before you the ROM on your device, make sure you take a nandroid backup of your Moto X Play, since this is an unofficial build and is currently in beta testing. Also, a wipe data/factory reset will be required prior to flashing the ROM.
