Moto X Play Android 7.1.1 update reportedly released in Brazil

Skipping the Android 7.0 update, Motorola released the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Moto X Play in June from its side. Since Moto X Play is not a Pixel or Nexus device that have the power to receive fast updates, it takes some time – weeks or months, for OEMs, in this case, Motorola to push updates in different countries.

It looks like Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has finally reached Brazil. According to an image posted on Twitter, the update brings Android 7.1.1 Nougat for users in Brazil. Now that the update is out for Brazilian users, other countries will also receive the update soon.

Moto X Play is a mid-range handset from Motorola that was launched in 2015. The new update, which arrives as version number 26.31.1.en.01 raises the Android version number from 6.0.1. to 7.1.1. If you live in Brazil and haven’t received the update yet, open device Settings go to About and tap Software.

Once you install the update, Nougat 7.1.1 will bring new features such as split screen mode, better battery life, double tap recent key to go back to the previous app and other cool features. The update will also install Google’s video call app, Duo on your device.

Further, the update brings the latest security patch to the device. Like any other security patch, the update takes care of various vulnerabilities on your device and makes your device safe from malicious attacks.

Meanwhile, if all goes good, you might also get to see Android 7.1.2 update on your Moto X Play. Moto X Play was recently spotted running Android 7.1.2 on GFXBench. However, take this news with a pinch of salt, as history has it, last time Moto X Play was spotted running Android 7.0 and that never happened. If Moto X Play gets Android 7.1.2 update, it will be the last operating system update for Moto X Play, as Motorola has confirmed that Moto X Play won’t get Oreo update. On a positive note, you can install Oreo update on your Moto X Play, using LineageOS 15.
