Moto Maxx is the GSM/International brother of the Verizon Droid Turbo and it goes by the codename Quark and model number XT1225/50. The device isn’t much popular and hence had a slow custom development so far. But thanks to baybutcher27 over at xda, we now have a working build of TWRP recovery 2.8.7.0 for the Moto Maxx and it’s going to be fun.
A custom recovery like TWRP recovery enables a lot of fun. First thing, you could easily root your device by flashing SuperSU zip and then there’s this whole world of custom MODs and ROMs that you can flash as .zip files via custom recovery. And the most important of all, you could take nandroid backup of your Moto Maxx now, the one thing that can restore your device from even a soft brick should need be.
This Moto Maxx TWRP recovery build is unofficial as of now, but the developer baybutcher27 might introduce it to the official TWRP repository, which will make sure that you’ll get updates to future TWRP versions as well.
Grab the Moto Maxx XT1225/50 TWRP recovery from the download link below and flash it via Fastboot. And make sure you unlock the bootloader first, because you can’t flash any file via Fastboot as long as bootloader is locked.
