Moto G4 Play receiving Android 7.1.1 update with software version NPI26.48-8

Motorola has always been forthcoming when it comes to software updates, especially when we are talking major Android version upgrades. As we saw with the Android 7.0 update lats year, back in August when Google announced it, Motorola was quick to update not only its flagship devices like Moto Z, but even the budget smartphone like Moto G4 (and G4 Plus, and G4 Play) to Nougat pretty quickly, by Nov-Dec 2016. To add context to that, know that Samsung began pushing the stable Nougat release to its flagship, the Galaxy S7, only by January 17, 2017.

Even today, likewise, while the Galaxy S7 users are awaiting Android 7.1.1 update, Motorola has been quick to roll out the 7.1.1 build to their Moto G4 Play users, as its fans from Brazil would testify.

Well, the Moto G4 Play users in Brazil are seeing the 7.1.1 OTA update notification flash on their devices now, coming in as software version NPI26.48-8. The update is being pushed out over the air and in phases too, so if you haven’t received the update notification already, you can try checking manually in Settings » About » Software update.

Since the update weighs around 638MB, it is advisable to download over WiFi and save on additional data charges from your carrier. Also ensure that your data is backed up to your PC before installing the update. This is just a safety precaution if the installation process runs into problems.
