Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro hasn’t been around for long, but the device is already receiving a major software update that bumps the MIUI version to the latest in town.
The Note 6 Pro runs MIUI 9 out of the box based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Of course, we didn’t expect this but Xiaomi is doing a great job ahead of the device’s wider rollout across the globe, where a stable MIUI 10.0.4 has now been released and is ready for download.
It’s likely that the device will arrive in some markets with this version out of the box, which is even better. For those who already have one, the update is airborne, meaning it will take some time before every Redmi Note 6 Pro units gets the download notification.
In addition to the MIUI 10 treat, early adopters are already noticing a bunch of cute little additions. For instance, one user notes that the camera and gallery apps have gotten better with the addition of a tool for adding effects like studio lighting, blur effects, light trails and so on.
Another also notes that the notch now looks better after the new update and battery percentage is also back in the settings. The update has also made the device smoother and snappier, but of course, all is not rosy.
Some say the clock is not in play and looks ugly while others are experiencing issues when playing music through headphones and the volume sliders appear broken. On the brighter side, this is a controlled release and Xiaomi is definitely monitoring the feedback in the MIUI forums, so be sure to leave some. If all goes well, though, a wider rollout should commence by the end of the week, which is when we’ll also get you the download file for manual installation.
