Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro have been unveiled in India and start selling this month. By all means, the trio of phones is a serious-looking upgrade to the Redmi 5 family, be it in terms of design, specs, and even features. However, the phones are still not perfect, especially based on the current standards.

Despite having been around for a month as a stable OS, it would be absurd to expect the Redmi 6 trio to come preinstalled with Android 9 Pie. However, what defeats meaning is why Xiaomi is still coming in with new phones based on MIUI 9 when MIUI 10 is already available in China as a stable update.

On the brighter side, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro will soon receive the MIUI 10 update, but it’s likely to be a beta version for testing purposes, with the stable release probably slated for later in Q4 2018.

The currently installed MIUI 9.6 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but we also expect the trio of phones to be upgraded to Android 9 Pie. Even better is that you don’t have to wait for MIUI 10, you can already install it right away on any of your Redmi 6 handsets.
