Update [March 29, 2017]: Even though the Cortana app is still in beta, the most recent update to version 2.6.1 just made things a whole lot more stable. The previous issue of reminders not triggering on time has now been solved with this update. In addition to that, the Microsoft powered AI now presents a much better user experience on your smartphone’s lockscreen.
Update [March 27, 2017]: The Cortana app for Android has now been bumped up to version 2.6.0 bringing with it a whole host of additional features. Cortana now comes with improved reminders and also features functions which work on location based triggers. This update also lets Cortana give you a quick glance of your day’s activities. You will also be able to create reminders and lists directly from Cortana’s home page.
Cortana, Microsoft’s AI assistant, has received a new update which bumps up the version to 2.5.0.1602. The latest update enables users to add Cortana on the lock screen.
Microsoft released the update on March 7th which is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and above. After installing the update, it needs to be enabled by going to the Settings. Once Cortana is enabled for lock screen, a small button appears on it with options for swiping left or right.
The updated Cortana v2.5 is live for everyone now. It can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Prior to releasing the official updated build, it was previously available as Cortana beta.
The Cortana AI assistant offers personal assistance and can help get things done. From acting as a reminder to enabling syncing your PC and your phone, Cortana does it all. It can even recommend you the best new restaurant nearby or the next concert of you favorite singer.

Meanwhile, Google’s AI Assistant begins rolling out in Canada to all Android devices with KitKat OS and higher versions. Google also plans to add support for additional languages other than English for the Assistant, one of them being Korean.
