The official LineageOS 16 ROM hasn’t been released, but a good number of devices have already received the unofficial support for this Android 9 Pie-based custom ROM, with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro the latest to join the party.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is on the list of Xiaomi’s devices that will be upgraded to Android Pie officially, but when exactly this will go down remains unknown. Rather than wait, you can now get a taste of the new OS on your device, but the software is inspired by LineageOS and not what you’d get on MIUI-based devices.

According to the developer of this Pie-based ROM, pretty much everything is working. So far, there are no known bugs, but of course, it’s obviously not perfect, just like any other software. Also, note that this is an Alpha beta update that has just been released, so be sure that you know what you are getting into before attempting to flash the ROM to your Redmi Note 5 Pro handset.

Another thing worth noting that since the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the same device as the global Redmi Note 5 AI, it’s possible that this unofficial LineageOS 16 ROM will work just fine on this model (also codenamed whyred), but be sure to gather more info on the same via the thread linked-to in the source below.
