Unlike other manufacturers, LG is not the one which waits for large industry events to announce its wearable products. If you remember, the company announced their LG Watch R and LG G3 Stylus last year only a few days before the IFA. This year too, we are seeing a similar announcement just a few weeks before the Mobile World Congress. This time, LG has taken the G Watch R and added a little class to it with the new ‘LG Watch Urbane’.
The LG Watch Urbane is an Android Wear Smartwatch which LG calls as its luxury iteration. The watch, which will be unveiled in Barcelona at the MWC, has a circular display just like the G Watch R. Only this time, its 1.3 inch screen will be enclosed in an all metal body. It has gold and silver finishes and a 22mm leather strap which can be swapped out. Between the straps, the watch includes a heart rate monitor.
The LG Watch Urbane features an intuitive touch based user surface which is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. Although you can see the same 1.3 inch circular display P-OLED display here too, you can observe that the designers and engineers have shaved the bezel around the edges. Now, that’s what we call “luxury”. Speaking about the battery, it is powered by the same 410 mAh.
The watch has a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, 4GB of built in memory, 512MB of RAM and IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. As for the cost, LG will announce it when it approaches availability. On the whole, the smartwatch is more formal with a thinner profile making it perfect for either men or women.
