LG has announced that they will be starting the rollout of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Optimus LTE II from next month, while the Optimus G will start receiving the update from December. Other devices like the Optimus Vu and the Optimus Vu II will get the update in the first quarter of 2013.
Apart from the usual Jelly Bean features – faster performance, smoother and responsive interface, redesigned notifications menu, Google Now, offline voice typing etc, the update will also add new features such as Q-Slide, which allows a user to display two apps on the screen simultaneously, or QuickMemo, which lets users take notes from anywhere on the device. These are features that are already present in Android 4.0 on the Optimus G, and the Jelly Bean update will add them to other LG devices as well.
Of course, LG still hasn’t released even Android 4.0 for older devices like the Optimus 2X, so I’m not too sure of whether LG will stay on schedule with Jelly Bean updates either. But one can always hope that LG will understand the importance of fast and timely updates, specially with them making the next Nexus. Right?
