LG Electronics has confirmed that LG G6 will start receiving Android 8.0 Oreo beginning next week Monday, April 30th. This comes four months after the company rolled out the OS to the V30 in Korea, but the wait is [arguably] worth it given that you not only get Oreo but also the company’s ThinQ AI features.
The LG V30S ThinQ was the first to debut with AI camera capabilities and we recently saw them migrate to the standard LG V30 courtesy of a software update. Well, the company is doing the same for the LG G6, but we don’t expect all features that showed up on the V30S to appear on the G6 as well.
LG says the G6 Oreo update will be rolled out to Korean units first before going global. Users can either wait for the OTA notification or do it manually via the LG Bridge program.

In addition to confirming Android Oreo release date for the LG G6, the company also shed some light on Oreo updates with respect to the 2016 LG G5 and LG V20 handsets. Although it didn’t give a specific date like in the case of the G6, it has confirmed that owners of these two devices will indeed receive Oreo.
However, there is no word on whether the LG G5 and V20 will also join the G6 and V30 in receiving ThinQ AI-related features after the Oreo update.
