The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be first released for the Nexus devices, there’s no doubt about that. But which of the premium flagship device of 2015 will get the Marshmallow update first after the official release by Google is a hard guess to answer.
While LG isn’t very promising like Motorola and Google when it comes fast rollout of Android updates, but we were pretty surprised last year when LG released the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its then flagship LG G3 before any other manufacturer did. LG rolled out Lollipop to LG G3 within 15 days of official release by Google, heck! even the Nexus 4 hadn’t received the Lollipop update in 15 days.
So what does it tell you about LG’s stand for the Marshmallow update release date for LG G4? If you ask us, we’d be positive on LG releasing the update before Samsung, Sony and HTC does (Motorola? Well, maybe).
The thing is, LG is pretty serious about their LG G4 sales for the fact that it’s pretty uncompetitive in terms of look and style to the Galaxy S6 edge and other flagship devices on the market. The company has been advertising its device for features like removable battery and microSD card support which Samsung and manufacturers moved on from in favor of better design. LG may take advantage of Samsung’s slow reaction to major Android updates and hence release the Marshmallow update before anyone else to use it as another advertising factor for its LG G4.
If LG is really that smart like we’re hoping it to be, then LG G4 Marshmallow update could arrive anytime between 15-30 days of official release by Google.
First LG G4 Marshmallow update will be released for the international variant of course, but carriers in the USA may not be quick enough to release the update right after the international variant does.
Let’s discuss a carrier-wise Marshmallow update release date for LG G4:
T-Mobile LG G4 Marshmallow Update
Model number: H811
T-Mobile has a good record of responsibly rolling out Android updates to its flagship devices on-time. And with LG’s efforts on pushing the update quickly, we expect the T-Mobile G4 Marshmallow update to be released between 45-60 days of official release.
Expected release date: 45-60 days of official release by Google.
Sprint LG G4 Marshmallow Update
Model number: LS991
Like T-Mobile, Sprint is equally devoted to rolling out Android updates as quickly as they can. We expect Sprint G4 Marshmallow update to be released around the time T-Mobile variant does.
Expected release date: 45-60 days of official release by Google.
AT&T LG G4 Marshmallow Update
Model number: H810
AT&T is the carrier we’ve never understood. It can sometime rollout an update well before anyone else does, but at other times it’s annoyingly slow to release OTA updates for newer Android versions.
We wouldn’t be surprised if AT&T joins the LG G4 Marshmallow update party a bit later than T-Mobile and Sprint does. Expect it to deliver the update between 45-90 days of official release by google.
Expected release date: 45-90 days of official release by Google.
Verizon LG G4 Marshmallow Update
Model number: VS986
Need we anything? Nobody expects Verizon to release Android updates quickly, so nor should you. Verizon is pathetically slow at releasing Android updates even to its Flagship devices. For the Verizon G4, we expect the longest release date of 60-90 days.
Expected release date: 60-90 days of official release by Google.
That’s all for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update release date for LG G4 and its variants at various carriers in US. If we’ve missed out on some important points in the post above, do let us know in the comments section below.
