The floodgates of rumours and news are now open, as Google has unveiled the next version of its smartphone operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop. This update comes with a package of tons of new features, new animations and buttons, new heads-up notifications and refined Google Now interface with elements sliding on top and into each other, well-known Material Design. Precisely, the under hood changes on Android 5.0 changes its runtime from Dalvik to ART by default, which improves the performance significantly.
We’ve finally received a word from LG regarding its Android 5.0 update plans for the G3. First HTC, then Motorola and Sony chipped in about their update plans, and now Samsung as well as LG are joining the fray. LG has chimed in from Europe, promising its Dutch and Belgian customers, that an Android 5.0 update should be hitting the LG G3 variants before the year rolls out. LG gave a official statetment that G3 will get the Android 5.0 Update by December 2014. It’s pretty good to see, LG gonna release their update probably before Christmas. Sooner than expected, Lollipop based Optimus UI would be out by that time.
It is a matter of concern if these updates are going to happen so fast, so quick? Yet, the question remains unanswered. Well, it isn’t just LG who has given such an official statement for LG G3, Samsung isn’t far behind. We’ve already been teased with Android 5.0 based TouchWiz UI from a leaked firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The initial hope for a november-bound Lollipop is now firmly moved to December, tipped sources, as could be largely expected.
Perhaps a update within 90 days, would be certainly a great success for all these flagship devices. The Android 5.0 update will come pre-installed with Motorola Nexus 6, HTC Nexus 9, and the Asus Nexus Player. There are still large number of small scale Android manufacturer partners who haven’t given there word yet regarding the Android 5.0 Update, so we’ll just wait and see how things will roll.
