Google released the Android 9 Pie update back in August, and since then the majority smartphone users have been wondering: will my phone get Pie? Well, owners of Lenovo’s K8 series have recently got their answer.

Sadly, it’s a big no from the company. The information comes directly from Lenovo’s own Forums Manager, Matt who replied to a user who was inquiring whether his Lenovo K8 Note will get the latest Android update:

The K8 phones have recently been upgraded from Nougat to Oreo (K8 update is still pending for some owners). The K8 series will remain on Oreo.

So if you own a Lenovo K8, K8 Note or K8 Plus, you shouldn’t expect to see any more big updates in the future. Not even Android 8.1 Oreo. Unless the company miraculously changes its mind.

Introduced back in 2017, the Lenovo K8 series proved to be quite popular with customers due to having decent specs and affordable prices. But perhaps the main drawing point for many users was the fact that the three phones each sported a huge 4,000 mAh battery.

Unfortunately, approximately one year after launch, Lenovo seems to have abandoned these devices. This news is going to come as a disappointment to a lot of people, although we can’t say we’re surprised, given the company’s track record with updates.
