To unlock the SubWayne at Old Gotham South in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you must solve a puzzle that requires Catwoman and Batman’s X-ray vision to power up the tunnel shutter and activate the fast travel point.
Old Gotham South SubWayne Puzzle
How to Unlock SubWayne Old Gotham South
Step 1: Bring Catwoman and enter the area
Switch to Catwoman and approach the broken machinery near the SubWayne tunnel entrance.

Use her to whack the mechanism a few times until it opens.

Step 2: Switch to Batman and use X-ray vision
Switch to Batman and approach the toolbox on the ground. Press Y (or the detect/X-ray button on your platform) to activate X-ray vision.

This will highlight which components connect to the power mechanism.

Step 3: Match the battery to the correct slot
Using X-ray vision again by standing near the slot, you’ll see which battery goes into which opening. One battery clearly connects to the power mechanism.
-
Pick up the extreme left battery

-
Place it in the second to right chamber.

- Leave the others in place as they are.

Step 4: Activate the power and open the shutter
Once the batteries are correctly placed, the circuit will be powered up. You’ll see power flow through the mechanism. Now simply press the button near the tunnel entrance to unlock the shutter.

And activate the SubWayne fast travel point.

Critical Mistakes to Avoid
-
Don’t remove batteries unnecessarily
-
Make sure you’re using Batman’s X-ray vision (press Y), not just regular detect.
-
You need Catwoman for the initial opening of the machine; other characters won’t work for that first step
-
If the button is greyed out, double-check that both batteries are in the correct slots — the X-ray vision should confirm this
Old Gotham South is positioned along the main road between Old Gotham North and the Tricorner bridge, making it a crucial fast travel point for navigating the southern part of Gotham.
