The LeEco Le Pro 3, which was announced in September this year, is getting a new OTA update right now. No, it’s not Android Nougat. The update installs the latest Android security patch, while also providing a bunch of bug fixes and improvements.

The firmware version is EUI 5.8.020S and is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Apart from installing the latest December Android security patch, users also get other features and bug fixes. The Huawei Mate 9 recently got the security update as well with the December patch.

As seen in the update log screenshot, the GMS Apps package has been update for better security and stability. The Bluetooth discover-ability has been shortened to 20 seconds, camera image processing algorithm has been enhanced, and unnecessary app permissions for 1st app launch will no longer show. The No Subject header from MMS has also been removed.

The Le Pro 3 is a good smartphone with some high-end specs. It features the Snapdragon 821 processor, a 5.5 inch display, 4GB of RAM, base storage of 32GB, 16MP rear camera and other high-end features. Still, it hasn’t been update to Android Nougat and we’re not sure if LeEco will release an update.

Make sure the smartphone has enough charge and is connected to a strong WiFi or Cellular connection, before downloading and installing this update.
