The ASUS Padfone 2 is set to be officially unveiled in Italy and China on October 16th and till now specs of the device have mainly been rumors. But an image posted by a user called cj1024 on a Chinese forum thread entitled “Padfone 2 specs revealed” has leaked the entire spec sheet of the device.
Having the model number A68 (the original Padfone was A66), the Padfone 2’s specs include a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 13MP camera, 4.7″ 720p Super IPS+ display, 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE, and a 2140 mAh battery. The specific version of Android isn’t mentioned, but it should most probably be Android 4.1.
There is however one discrepancy in the image as pointed out by one keen-eyed reader. The display icon says “Super AMOLED” while the specs say it’s a Super IPS+ display, which is an LCD technology. This could be a packaging error or an indication of the image being fake or manipulated, so take this spec sheet with a pinch of salt.
While the original Padfone didn’t sell well and was kind of a “failed yet awesome” experiment, with specs such as the ones rumored for the Padfone 2, it might find its fair share of buyers, though its price will be the final deciding factor. October 16th will make all details pretty clear, so for now all we can do is wait.
