Jelly Bean update for Japanese Galaxy Nexus to be release soon by NTT Docomo

In the latest information received by Breaking Gadgets, NTT DoCoMo and Samsung will be pushing out the Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” update to the Galaxy Nexus (SC-04D) in Japan in October, with the official announcement to take place on October 11th in a DoCoMo presentation event.

While the Galaxy Nexus is a Nexus smartphone and should get updates directly from Google, the Galaxy Nexus in Japan (as well as in some other countries) is provided updates by Samsung, and coupled with the usual delays caused by carriers, it’s not a surprise that the update has taken this long to come. Even the Sprint and Verizon Galaxy Nexus in the US only got the update last month, two months after the international GSM as well as unlocked Play Store variants got the update.

The update has supposedly completed in-house QA at NTT DoCoMo and Samsung, so the update shouldn’t be too far away. It kills everyone a little to see Nexus devices get delayed updates like this, but that’s how it currently is.
